Vaporesso XROS 5 Review: Screen, Power Modes and Which Pod to Start On

Vaporesso XROS 5 Review: Screen, Power Modes and Which Pod to Start On

22nd Oct 2026

The short version of this Vaporesso XROS 5 review: it is a well-made, quick-charging pod kit whose screen earns its place, while its power modes do less than the box suggests. The Vaporesso XROS 5 pod kit pairs a 1500mAh battery with a 0.88-inch colour screen, fires on the inhale or at the press of a button, and ships with two pods. Setup, filling and troubleshooting for both fifth-generation kits are covered in our XROS 5 vs XROS 5 Mini guide, and the wider Vaporesso range has the rest of the line.

The 2ml pod is the most a refillable tank can hold in the UK under the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016. Reviews written for other markets often quote a 3ml pod, so any pod-life figures in them will not line up with a UK kit fill for fill.

What the Vaporesso XROS 5 Is Like to Use

Flavour is where reviewers are most positive. Vaping360 rated the XROS 5 five out of five after two weeks with it, found both included pods excellent, and had no wicking problems on 50/50 e-liquid. By the end of the test it had put 24 to 28ml through the pods with no sign of them fading. Its reviewer also ran the same e-liquid through an older COREX 2.0 pod for comparison and found the new pod rounder in flavour, though not a dramatic step up.

The layout has moved on from earlier XROS kits. The button and airflow slider now sit in shallow channels along the sides, which makes accidental presses and slider knocks less likely in a pocket, although Vaping360 expects long-time XROS users to need some time to adjust. On its review unit the finish resisted fingerprints, with the caveat that this may not hold for every colour.

Screen, Button and Power Modes: What They Change

The screen is the most useful thing the XROS 5 adds over a basic pod kit. It shows the battery as a percentage, along with the puff count and the current power mode, and you can switch between display themes. An exact battery figure tells you when to charge before the kit cuts out, rather than leaving you to read a row of lights.

The button handles everything else. Per the listing and Vaping360's review:

  • One press: fires the kit, when button firing is switched on
  • Two presses: changes the display theme
  • Three presses: cycles the power mode
  • Five presses: turns the kit on or off

You do not need the button to vape. The XROS 5 also fires when you inhale, so once it is switched on, the button is only there for settings.

On the two pods in the box, power comes as three presets rather than a wattage. The listing describes Eco as the battery-saving setting and Power as the warmer, stronger one, but Vaping360 found little difference between the three in use, while rating all of them well. Treat the modes as a light adjustment, not fine control.

Precise wattage only arrives with the 0.4Ω XROS pod, which is sold separately. Retailer listings describe adjustment in 0.5W steps with that pod fitted, up to the kit's 30W maximum. If setting your own wattage is part of the reason you are buying, add 0.4Ω pods to the order.

Battery Life and Charging

The 1500mAh battery is half as big again as the 1000mAh in the XROS 4, in a body of much the same size. The listing says it lasts most users a full day, and with a percentage on the screen you can see how your own use compares within a day or two.

Charging is quick, though the figure depends on who you ask. Vaporesso's claim, repeated in the listing's FAQs, is 80% in 20 minutes through the 3A USB-C port. The listing's description puts a full charge at roughly 35 minutes, and Vaping360 timed a full charge at 26 minutes, the fastest it had tested at the time. Every figure sits under 40 minutes, so a flat battery costs you less than an hour.

Which Pod to Start On: 0.6Ω or 0.8Ω

The choice comes down to how you like to draw.

Pod

Draw

Suggested e-liquid

0.8Ω (in the box)

Tighter MTL: vapour drawn into the mouth first, then inhaled

50/50 or nic salt

0.6Ω (pre-installed)

A little looser, towards RDTL

50/50 or nic salt

0.4Ω (sold separately)

Looser RDTL with warmer vapour; enables wattage control

High VG, around 70% VG

If you are coming from cigarettes, start on the 0.8Ω pod with the airflow slider closed down, which gives the tightest draw the kit offers. Everyday vapers used to a slightly airier pull can stay on the pre-installed 0.6Ω. Both pods suit nic salt e-liquids and 50/50 e-liquids. Keep high VG e-liquids for the 0.4Ω pod, as thicker liquid soaks into the higher-resistance coils too slowly.

The XROS 5 works with XROS pods from 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω, so pods left over from an earlier XROS kit still fit. There is no separate coil to change: it sits inside the pod, and a fresh pod replaces the old one when the taste dulls. The COREX replacement pods page lists the resistances currently stocked, and the Vaporesso pods range has the rest.

Is the Vaporesso XROS 5 Worth It?

For an everyday vaper who wants the screen, yes. An exact battery percentage, two pods in the box and a charge of under 40 minutes cover most of what a daily pod kit has to do, and the kit takes any XROS pods you already own. The power modes are a smaller part of the appeal than the box makes them look.

It also works for someone coming from cigarettes, because nothing needs setting before the first puff: fill the 0.8Ω pod, switch on with five presses and inhale. If the screen and button feel like more than you want, the Vaporesso XROS 5 Mini drops both. Our tips for vaping beginners cover the first few weeks, and the starter kit range has other first devices.

It is a weaker fit if you want the largest battery in the XROS line, which belongs to the XROS Pro 2, or the lightest body, which is the Mini's. If the XROS 5 sounds right, the Vaporesso XROS 5 pod kit page has the current colours, and the listing currently adds a free 10ml bottle of e-liquid.

Vaporesso XROS 5 vs XROS 5 Mini vs XROS Pro 2

The three kits share the XROS pod system and differ mainly in screen, battery and what comes in the box.

FAQs

Do old XROS pods work in the XROS 5?

Yes. The XROS 5 takes pods across the XROS series from 0.4Ω to 1.2Ω, including those from earlier XROS kits. The newer XROS 6, released in May 2026, uses the same XROS pods, so a stock of pods carries over whichever kit you use.

Can you change the wattage on the Vaporesso XROS 5?

Only with the 0.4Ω XROS pod, which is sold separately. With the 0.6Ω and 0.8Ω pods from the box, you choose between Eco, Normal and Power instead.

How do you turn the XROS 5 on and change modes?

Press the button five times quickly to switch it on or off, three times to change power mode and twice to change the display theme. The kit fires when you inhale, so the button is not needed to vape.

How much e-liquid does the XROS 5 pod hold?

The UK pod holds 2ml, the limit for refillable pods set by the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016. A 3ml figure in some reviews refers to versions sold outside the UK.

Does the XROS 5 come with e-liquid?

At the time of writing, the XROS 5 listing adds a free 10ml Riot Squad e-liquid at 10mg, with two flavours to choose from. What is included can change, so check the product page when you order.
